The small Lake Martignano<\/strong> which is on the other side of a hill 2 km from the big lake is surrounded by nature, appreciated for swimming, with some free facilities in the south and paying in the north.
These are popular destinations for the Romans, for the few beaches, little villages like Bracciano, Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano, and some walking and cycling trails.
Let\u2019s also talk about Monterano, a suggestive ghost village located nearly 10 km from Bracciano, with vestiges of the Baroque period located in a nature reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n

North-east of Lake Bracciano, south of Tuscia region, the Treja<\/strong> is a small river whose valley is protected in a natural park. Its waters dug tuff – abundant in the region – for millennia, creating beautiful places. To the north of the park the authentic village of Calcata<\/strong> is perched on a promontory in a superb site. The waters of the river are lined with woods and create waterfalls in places, including the waterfalls of Monte Gelato<\/strong> (which was a filming location of a Trinit\u00e0<\/em> of the Italian spaghetti western times). Among the sites and curiosities are the village of Mazzano Romano, the oppidum of the ancient Faliscan city of Narce (the Falisc were a people close to the Etruscans), Etruscan necropolis, abandoned mills, etc. Marked trails allow to discover the park.<\/p>\n\n\n

You can easily reach Bracciano<\/strong> on its namesake lake by train from Rome. Around are several pretty villages and natural sites, as well as the wild little Martignano Lake<\/strong>. The protected Treja Valley<\/strong> runs up the river to the hilltop town of Calcata<\/strong> on its tuff rock, passing through the beautiful waterfalls of Monte Gelato<\/strong>.
