You can discover beautiful beaches and coastal portions, but also small towns and historic villages, such as the beautiful <strong>Gaeta<\/strong> which is the easternmost, <strong>Terracina<\/strong> and <strong>Sperlonga<\/strong>, natural sites including the <strong>Circeo National Park<\/strong>, shrines, etc.<br>It also includes the charming <strong>Pontine Islands<\/strong> including <strong>Ponza<\/strong> 1h20 crossing. Its provincial capital, <strong>Latina<\/strong>, is not a tourist destination, but it is a special city, having been founded in 1932 during the remediation of the marshes of the region in the fascist era, as a model city.<\/p>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Gaeto with the castles\" data-id=\"20797\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/en\/province-de-latina\/gaeta_7614\/\" class=\"wp-image-20797\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614-400x267.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/gaeta_7614.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"blocks-gallery-item__caption\">View over Gaeta<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n<p>Places and sights to see, from west to east (for beaches refer to the page dedicated to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bestofrome.fr\/en\/coast-and-beaches-near-rome\/\">beaches of Lazio<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Inland, <strong>Cori<\/strong> is a charming village that has kept beautiful Roman remains in its old town, including those of temples.<\/li>\n<li>Not far from Cori, <strong>Norma<\/strong> is a village located next to the vast and suggestive remains of <strong>ancient Norba<\/strong>, including cyclopean walls, which is also a paraglider take-off site.<\/li>\n<li>At the foot of Norma, the <strong>Gardens of Ninfa<\/strong> arranged in the middle of the vestiges of an abandoned medieval village, particularly flowered in spring.<\/li>\n<li>Still inland, <strong>Sermoneta<\/strong> is a pretty medieval village, next to the pretty <strong>Valvisciolo Abbey<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fossanova Abbey<\/strong> is one of the most beautiful in the region founded by the Benedictines in the 9th century.<\/li>\n<li>On the coast a nature reserve incorporates the marshes and the coastline with beautiful and large beaches from Sabaudia to Mount Circe, with the <strong>Circeo National Park<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Against the Mount Circeo, <strong>San Felice Circeo<\/strong> has a pretty little historic center that dominates the coast<\/li>\n<li><strong>Terrracina<\/strong> is an interesting town where Roman and medieval remains are discovered in its historic center, with the site of the <strong>Temple of Jupiter Anxur<\/strong> nearby that dominates the coast.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Fondi<\/strong>, city that has kept its Roman urban plan, which has its charm without being tourist.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sperlonga<\/strong> is a pretty village with its alleys of white houses on a promontory. There is also the <strong>Villa of Tiberius<\/strong> and its beautiful beaches.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Itri<\/strong> is a village with a medieval castle and a fortified village. A few kilometers in the direction of Formia are beautiful portions of the <strong>ancient Appian Way<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gaeta<\/strong> is probably the most interesting of the towns of the province, whose historic center dates back to the Romans, with several sanctuaries, the imposing Angevin-Aragonese castle that dominates the sea, and the beautiful beaches towards Sperlonga.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Formia<\/strong>: pretty typical town, little tourist, with its Roman cistern and in the hinterland a beautiful wild mountain and its panoramas of the <strong>Aurunci Mountains Park<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The archaeological site of the <strong>ancient Minturno<\/strong>, and between Formia and Minturno the rocky coast of Gianola<\/li>\n<li><strong>Park and Mount Scauri<\/strong> where Roman remains literally have their feet in the water<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-3 is-cropped\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li
