Trattorias and restaurants: our best addresses in Rome
There are three main types of dining establishments in Rome, beyond bakeries and takeaway snack spots:
Trattorias: taverns that typically serve local cuisine, generally simple, focusing on the quality of the dish
Pizzerias: as the name suggests, their specialty is pizza
Restaurants: they may offer original or local cuisine, with or without pizza, and usually provide more formal service than trattorias
