In Rome you will see many small, typical bars that serve an astronomical amount of coffee, usually taken standing at the counter, in a few seconds. In the morning, cappuccino is very popular, often accompanied by a cornetto (croissant). Beware, however, of the latter, they sometimes hide inside a beige and fatty paste of unknown constitution, or nutella, or a bowl of jam. If you want an empty croissant, it is a cornetto semplice, at the risk of eating dry cardboard. In any case, it is often not little tasty. It is preferable to have a traditional pastry shop that makes its own pastries and cakes, including Sicilian pastries (cannoli for example), or Neapolitan pastries (with rum baba for example), see our Roman pastries and bakeries addresses.
