Youth hangouts, neighborhoods, bars, and clubs

From aperitivo until 2am

Young Romans—and not only the young—gather around many squares in Rome. Among them, one of the most popular in the city center is Campo dei Fiori. However, in recent years, it has unfortunately become more of a tourist attraction.
Some neighborhoods have many bars and pubs, generally open until 2am, such as Trastevere, especially the small bar San Callisto, minimalistic but very youthful, near Santa Maria in Trastevere, or Freni e Frizioni.
There are many options for having a drink in the Navona area (such as the stylistic Caffe della Pace, via della Pace, Salotto 42, and Bar del Fico, Piazza del Fico), but also in Rione Monti (around Piazza Madonna dei Monti) near the Colosseum, or near the Pantheon like Club Derrière with its terrace and cocktails.

Further from the center and less touristy, other areas are popular among young people and students: the San Lorenzo and Pigneto neighborhoods (see map below).
The student area, San Lorenzo, is dotted with various bars and pubs, some of which offer live music. This area lies to the northeast, relatively far from the center but close to Termini station.

Another neighborhood, Pigneto, young and popular, somewhat “roots“, has many bars, night bars, venues, and small clubs. Here are some of the most appreciated spots: The Factory – an industrial-style bar hosting concerts, Yeah! Pigneto – an eclectic bar with music programming, ‘Na Cosetta – a cozy bar with live music and a loyal crowd.

After 2am, nightclubs and late bars: Some are scattered around Piazza Navona (La Maison, La Cabala, Shari Vari on Via di Torre Argentina) and near the Pantheon, but most are located in the Testaccio district, around the hill, as well as in the Pigneto area. See this website: www.discotecheroma.com/locali for a list.
Also worth mentioning: (…) near Pigneto, with a concert hall and a large, well-designed outdoor space; Angelo Mai on Via delle Terme di Caracalla, which is similar in style but smaller and more popular; L’Asino che Vola, near metro line A, is a nice indoor venue offering good live music and organic food.
